Yes. The platform is built on HIPAA-compliant infrastructure with end-to-end encryption, role-based access controls, and comprehensive audit logging. We execute a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with every customer. Patient data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Note: HIPAA "certification" does not exist as a government credential. We maintain compliance through continuous technical and administrative safeguards validated by independent third-party assessment.
The platform is designed to minimize your compliance exposure. All clinical actions (consultations, diagnoses, prescriptions) are performed by independently licensed healthcare providers and pharmacists, not by you or the platform. Your role is the brand and customer acquisition. We strongly recommend consulting with a healthcare attorney for your specific situation, and we're happy to introduce you to legal professionals who specialize in telehealth.
Telehealth regulations vary significantly by state. The platform manages provider licensing verification, prescribing rule enforcement, and regulatory requirements across the states where our provider and pharmacy networks operate. During onboarding, we'll map your coverage based on your chosen provider and pharmacy partners. We do not claim blanket 50-state coverage. Coverage depends on your specific network configuration.
The platform supports prescription workflows for a wide range of therapeutic categories. For controlled substances, additional DEA compliance requirements apply. Whether a specific controlled substance can be offered depends on your provider network's DEA registrations, your pharmacy partner's capabilities, and the specific state regulations involved. We'll work through this during onboarding.
You own your customer relationships and commercial data. Protected Health Information (PHI) is governed by HIPAA regulations and handled according to the BAA we execute together. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data or your patients' data. If you leave the platform, your commercial data is exportable. PHI handling during offboarding follows HIPAA-compliant data transfer protocols.
No. The platform's integration layer enforces a strict data boundary. External tools and custom webhook endpoints receive commercial event data only — for example, that an order was placed or a shipment was delivered. They never receive protected health information: no diagnoses, no prescription details, no clinical notes, no provider communications. This boundary is enforced at the infrastructure level, not just by policy. Your marketing tools know a customer completed a purchase. They do not know what was prescribed or why.
Yes. Storefront split testing applies to your marketing pages, product pages, and checkout flows — the same elements any DTC brand would optimize. Clinical workflows, including intake forms, provider consultations, and prescribing logic, are standardized and governed by compliance protocols. They are not subject to split testing. The platform enforces this separation. You cannot accidentally modify a clinical workflow through the storefront editor.
Yes. Refill reminders and renewal notifications are delivered through HIPAA-compliant communication channels within the platform. They are care coordination tools designed to reduce gaps in treatment. The content, timing, and delivery method of these communications comply with HIPAA requirements for electronic communications containing or referencing protected health information. Patients can manage their communication preferences, and all reminder activity is logged in the platform's audit trail.
Both. Every theme ships with a visual editor for layout and content changes. If you need deeper control, the in-platform code editor gives you direct access to HTML, CSS, and Liquid templates. All edits are version-controlled with one-click rollback, so you can experiment without risk. Code-level changes apply only to your storefront pages. Clinical workflows and compliance infrastructure are not editable through the theme system.
Yes. The plugin marketplace is on the way, and compliance is built into its design from the start. Every plugin will undergo a compliance review before listing. Plugins operate within the storefront layer and are sandboxed from protected health information: they cannot access clinical data, patient records, or prescribing workflows. The plugin architecture enforces this boundary at the infrastructure level, not just by policy. If a plugin requires data access, it receives only de-identified commercial event data through the same boundary that governs all external integrations.
Checkout recommendations surface complementary products based on what is in the customer's cart, not on their clinical history or prescriptions. The recommendation engine operates on the same logic as any e-commerce cross-sell: purchase behavior and product affinity. It does not reference diagnoses, treatment plans, or provider recommendations. All suggested products still require their own independent clinical consultation and provider approval where applicable. You configure which products can be recommended together. The platform prevents combinations that would conflict with clinical protocols.
